Debt-Free Envelopes Privacy Policy
Effective October 29, 2026 ยท Published by The News Bakery LLC
Debt-Free Envelopes ("the app") is an envelope budget with a debt payoff planner. This policy explains what happens to the money information you enter.
What the app stores
The app stores what you enter: your accounts and their balances, envelopes and targets, transactions and payees, repeating bills, debts with their rates and minimum payments, your debt plan, the column settings for bank files you import, reminders and your settings. All of it is saved only on your device, in the app's private storage.
What we collect
Nothing. We do not collect, receive or store any of your data. The app has no account, no sign-in, no server, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and it contains no third-party code that sends data anywhere. Nothing you enter is sent to us or to anyone else.
No bank connections
The app does not connect to your bank or to any service that links bank accounts. It never asks for a bank login. If you import a CSV file you downloaded from your bank, the file is read on your device and is not uploaded anywhere.
Cloud backups
The app keeps its data out of iCloud Backup and Android's automatic cloud backup, so your budget is not copied to a cloud account by the app. To move to a new phone, you make a backup file yourself (see below).
When information leaves your device
Only when you choose to share it. A backup file, a CSV export of your transactions or a Debt Plan PDF is made on your device and goes only where you send it with your phone's share sheet, for example to your files, an email or a printer. Once you send it, the app or service you chose handles it under its own terms.
Permissions
The app asks for a permission only when you use the feature that needs it: notifications for reminders you turn on, and Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint or your passcode when you turn on the app lock. The app never sees your fingerprint, face or passcode; your phone checks them and tells the app only whether it worked. Choosing a bank file uses your phone's own file picker.
Purchases
The app is free to try for 7 days, then one in-app purchase unlocks it. Apple or Google handles the payment under their own terms, and we never receive your payment details. The app only asks the store, on your device, whether the unlock or the free trial item was taken, and keeps that answer and the trial date on your device.
Reminders
Reminders are scheduled by your phone itself. No data is sent to a server to do this.
Deleting your data
You can delete any transaction, envelope, account or debt in the app. Uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes everything. Backup and export files you saved yourself stay where you saved them until you delete them. Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete.
Children
The app is meant for adults managing their own money. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone.
Not financial advice
The app is a budgeting tool. It shows the math from the numbers you enter. It does not give financial advice and does not recommend loans, cards, balance transfers, investments or other financial products.
Changes
If this policy changes, we will update this page and the effective date above.
